Box Becomes an Avant-Garde Dress

Whilst completing the second year of my fashion degree I was given a brief to design and manufacture an avant-garde dress inspired by containers using a metallic leatherette material. After researching the different structures of boxes and how they were constructed and collapsed, I decided to take a different approach and began to look at egg shells as the container of an egg. I really enjoyed researching the silhouettes created from broken egg shells and began to experiment with the shapes made from the broken shells. Inspired by work created by Gareth Pugh, Paul Klee and Issey Miyake, I designed a dress with a bold and striking silhouette that featured geometric shaped panels with abstract zig-zag hand stitching.

I was lucky enough to have my dress chosen to be included in the mid-year fashion show alongside the work of the 3rd and 4th years!!
